Mother Teresa: Every time you smile at someone

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.

Mother Teresa

The Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, M.C.,commonly known as Mother Teresa (Skopje, Albania, 26 August 1910 - Calcutta, India 5 September 1997), born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was an Albanian-born, Indian Roman Catholic Religious Sister. In the year 1950 Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, a Roman Catholic religious congregation, which in 2012 consisted of over 4,500 sisters and is active in 133 countries. For over 45 years she served the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, at the same time guiding the expansion of her congregation, at first in India and later in other countries. After her death she was beatified by Pope John Paul II, giving the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the highest civilian award of India, the Bharat Ratna, in 1980 for her humanitarian work. A dozen of first level national and international awards joined them.
